
Whenever I’m inside a stately home, I can’t help taking a photograph through the windows, looking out. Maybe it’s the mesh they use on windows in places like this that creates a Photoshop filter-like effect. Maybe it’s a deep-seated philosophical response to the confines of the British class system. Either way, they always look nice.
The slight asymmetrical position of the park bench adds tension. I need the shutters to be closed, or the photographer to move slightly to the left? Or right? Not sure. More tension….

I bet your Mr. A. Eye would consider this an exceptionally compelling and well-composed photograph. But would he/she/it know exactly where that window was and what was outside it?
