“There can be no reason why man should not make towns liveable and healthy …. Just as much subject to the beneficent influence of bright sunshine, fresh air, flowers and plants as the country”
William Hesketh Lever “Land For Houses, 1897”

A grand day out at Port Sunlight on the Wirral Peninsula which included a walking tour of the village and its various architectural delights, and a visit to the Port Sunlight Museum. This photograph was taken in one of the small upstairs bedrooms which looks out over a back yard with a variety of architectural styles and some carefully staged washing.

You can walk around Halifax until the cows come home to Cow Green and still find new angles and new ways of seeing familiar sights. Whatever the angle, there will always be the golden stone of the buildings set against the backdrop of green hills.
